2018 Ingolstadt Corporate Run: come hell or high water

Gaimersheim/Ingolstadt – Although it was merely hot during last year’s Ingolstadt Corporate Run, yesterday’s race was, first and foremost, WET. Shortly after setting up our booth at the Theaterplatz, we had to deal with a torrent of rain and regularly bail water out of our small pavilion.  Luckily for the 3,500 participants, once the clouds dispersed, after a roughly one-hour tropical downpour, the air cooled-off to make the temperatures much more “runner-friendly.”

ASTech was represented once again, with a total of 31 colleagues, ranging from students to the managing director, who couldn’t pass up the chance for some running fun. We started with 10 teams of three runners, plus one individual participant. This year we also had a mixed team and a women’s team for the first time!

Cheered on by several colleagues who showed up especially to lend their support, all 31 ASTech runners proudly covered the 5.8-kilometer distance. We’re also extremely proud, and very pleased to note, that ASTech had 31 starters and 31 finishers, all of whom earned our utmost respect for the outstanding team performance!

Apart from being relieved that our all of our colleagues reached the finish line without any difficulties, we also took solace in the fact that the rain stopped, at least during the race. Just as our last runner crossed the finish line though, the rain returned with a vengeance, creating a rather snuggly atmosphere as more than 30 people huddled under our 3-meter by 3-meter pavilion for the post-run celebration. Little thought was given to whether the wet celebration was caused by sweat or the rain.

Once again from our side, many thanks to all those came to run, or just cheer, making our participation in the Ingolstadt Corporate Run another successful ASTech team event, despite the wet conditions. In order to give us a chance to look back on the event together, we compiled a small highlight video: Best-of-ASTech-@Ingolstädter-Firmenlauf-Video. See for yourself!
